YOU WILL BE OUT LIKE A LIGHT
STORY BY FELIX CHEONG & ART BY ALI HAMZAH
This 10-page coloured comic tells the story of a magician, his wife, and his mistress — a tale of illusion, betrayal, and control. I was commissioned by Felix Cheong alongside other artists, with the creative brief to preserve the core essence of his story while having the freedom to adjust the character lineup and chronology.
This was my first time collaborating directly with a writer, and it proved to be a formative experience. I was also invited to the Vanishing Point book launch, marking an important milestone in my journey as a visual storyteller.

CHASE
STORY & ART BY ALI HAMZAH
CHASE follows Officer Lee, a policeman haunted by the childhood trauma of losing his mother—shot by a beggar when he was young. Years later, he chases a different beggar who steals snacks from a shop. When Lee catches him, he discovers the man stole the food to feed his young daughter. The encounter forces Lee to question his assumptions about poverty, justice, and the reasons he chose to become a police officer in the first place.
This was my first professionally published work, through Asiapac Books. It was a challenging yet valuable experience where I learned the technical demands of print publishing, such as adhering to print-safe areas and using white borders to separate panels. This project taught me that visual clarity is essential for effective storytelling—if the image isn’t clear, the story won’t land.
